Linocut for Textiles - Quakers Meeting House, Dorking

  • Friends Meeting House butter hill Dorking United Kingdom (map)

This is a lovely introduction to both lino cutting, a printmaking process, and creating your own textiles!

On this course Lydia will talk through the basic techniques, how the materials work and what you need (including where to get it) to complete the course and carry on lino-cutting and printing fabric at home. Her mission is to get you printing!

The method is very straight-forward, accessible for all abilities and easy to do at home… as printing goes, it’s pretty un-messy too! You will have the opportunity to explore your own designs and mix your own colours as well as using Lydia’s own linocuts and woodcut printing blocks. If you have your own woodcut blocks you are welcome to bring these too, just make sure they are clearly labelled or you have a photograph of yours so they don’t get muddled.

Everyone will get a kit to take home to continue to play: *5 Lino-cutting Tools * 2 pieces of Soft-Cut Lino * 1 Inking Tray *3 paint sponges * 50ml fabric paint.. There will also be 1 tea towel and 1 tote bag to print on during class.
